About

your LNC Mentor

Nice to meet you!

Hi, I’m Valerie, the founder of Legal Nurse Academy. With over 18 years in healthcare, including serving as an ICU preceptor for new grads, I’ve built a career around helping others learn, grow, and find confidence in their expertise. That same passion for teaching is what led me into legal nurse consulting, and eventually, into creating a space where new and experienced LNCs can get real, practical legal nurse consultant training.

Since 2021, I’ve worked in legal nurse consulting from nearly every angle there is: independently, as a subcontractor, as a hiring LNC, as a forensic nurse expert, and as an ICU expert witness. I’ve had the privilege of testifying in five states (and counting!) and collaborating with attorneys and LNCs nationwide. That range of experience has given me a firsthand understanding of what it actually takes to succeed in this field, not just in theory, but in the day to day work of building a sustainable LNC career in the landscape of 2026.

Why I Built the Legal Nurse Academy

I remember what it was like as a new LNC, staying up late searching online, hoping to find mentorship or someone who could teach me the skills I actually needed to start working. I spent years piecing things together on my own, learning as I went and slowly building the confidence and skill set I needed. I built Legal Nurse Academy because I wanted to create the path I wish I’d had: clear, practical legal nurse consultant training that helps you feel genuinely prepared for the work.

How I Can Help

My goal at Legal Nurse Academy is to give you the real, practical skills you need to build a legal nurse consulting business, understand case work, navigate testimony, and grow your expertise along the way. Whether you’re brand new to the field or transitioning from another nursing career, I’m here to help you turn your clinical experience into a confident, capable legal nurse consulting career.
